Community Giving - Aberdeen Cyrenians

Our selection panel loved reading through all your nominations for Community Giving.

It wasn't easy to select the 40 successful nominations because there were so many fantastic causes to choose from. For a full list of the successful 40, head to our Community Giving page.

As part of our continued insight into some of the successful nominees, this's month's featured nominee is Aberdeen Cyrenians.

Aberdeen Cyrenians is a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by homelessness, violence, domestic abuse and other forms of social exclusion. An estimated 50,000 homeless people or people at risk of homelessness have been supported by Aberdeen Cyrenians over the past 50 years.

The charity was nominated by Phil Anderson Financial Services who decided to match Skipton's donation by giving a further £1,000, which is fantastic news!

We contacted Aberdeen Cyrenians and here's what they had to say

“Donations make a vital difference in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our area. Each year we provide over 8,000 support appointments, 8,000 hot meals, 4,000 food parcels, 1,800 showers and 1,500 toiletry packs. Without supporters like yourself we wouldn’t be able to do this.”
Emma Bellu, Fundraising Manager

“Firstly, thanks so much to Phil Anderson for nominating us for the grant through Skipton Building Society funding. It’s very generous for them to match the funding and hugely appreciated. Thanks also to Skipton for this valuable donation.”
Chris Bennett Taylor, Head of Corporate and Business services

A few words from us

Jonathan Evans

It was great to see some of the amazing work the organisation does within the community and the real difference it was making to people’s lives. It was clear to see the people within the charity have a strong passion for the work they do which made presenting the donation a fantastic experience."
