Community Giving – HARP, Southend’s Homeless Charity

Our selection panel loved reading through all your nominations for Community Giving. It wasn't easy to select the 40 successful nominations because there were so many fantastic causes to choose from. For a full list of the successful 40, head to the Community Giving page.

In the following months we will be giving you insight into some of the successful nominees. This month’s featured nominee is HARP.

HARP, Southend’s Homeless Charity

HARP currently provides housing for up to 174 homeless people in Southend, all of whom have action plans to help them manage and overcome the issues that might be surrounding their homelessness.

Andy Pollock and John Manning of J&L Mortgage Solutions.

Why they were nominated

“The work that HARP does for the local homeless community on a daily basis is heart-warming and essential. We at J&L will continue to support HARP, and hope that they can continue to do the amazing work they do. We’re proud that our entry was selected by Skipton Building Society and that £1,000 went to supporting this brilliant local charity. Thank you, Skipton!”

A few words from us

Tracey Nash

It was a real privilege for me to meet with Dina Jobson, HARP’s Fundraising Manager, who took the time to show me around the day centre, highlighting all the good work that’s being done from providing beds, hot meals and clothing through to helping improve life skills - and the list goes on. It was inspiring to see how our donation is going to be put to such good use and was truly rewarding for such a worthwhile cause.
