We recognise that trusted, confidential whistleblowing arrangements are key to an open and honest culture. We encourage everyone who works for us to speak out whenever they witness any wrongdoing or misconduct.
Whistleblowing at Skipton
We are committed to ensuring that all concerns raised are investigated thoroughly and fairly.
Concerns can be raised with any member of our whistleblowing panel (Nominated Report Recipients), through our independent reporting service (Safecall).
All investigations follow a robust governance and decision-making process. If evidence of wrongdoing is found, appropriate action will be taken.
As required by regulation, we have appointed a Whistleblowing Champion, Iain Cummings.
Their responsibility is to oversee the integrity, independence and effectiveness of our whistleblowing policy and procedures whilst protecting whistleblowers from being victimised or treated differently for having disclosed reportable concerns.
When should I report a concern?
If you suspect any wrong-doing you should report your concerns. You should use the independent service if you see or suspect:
- Bribery, fraud or other criminal offence
- A miscarriage of justice
- A risk to colleague and/or public health and safety
- A risk or actual damage to the environment
- A breach of any other legal or professional obligation
- Discriminatory behaviour
- Someone is covering up wrongdoing.
You don’t need proof, just a reasonable belief that something is not right.
How to report a concern
To report a concern you will need to either phone Safecall or use their online form. Safecall is a free and confidential service, available 24/7, with trained operators to support you through your report.
Please provide clear details about where and when the issue occurred. This makes our investigations a lot easier.
You don’t have to provide any personal information if you don’t want to. But doing so allows Safecall to follow up on the report, helping them to fully understand the issue and potentially leading to a better outcome.
